This Week at the YWCO: Air Handling System Update & More

We have several exciting updates to share with you! From welcoming our new CEO to upcoming events, new fitness offerings, and improved ways to stay connected, there’s a lot happening at the Y.

Welcoming Our New CEO

As of Monday, September 28, Diana Myers has officially stepped into her new role as CEO of the YWCO!

Diana has been part of the YWCO team since 2025, and we are excited to welcome her into this new role. If you see Diana around the Y, please take a moment to say hello and welcome her!

🎃 YWCO Tricks, Treats & Trunks

Get ready for a spooky good time!

Join us on Thursday, October 22 from 5:00–8:00 PM for YWCO Tricks, Treats & Trunks!

This FREE community event is open to YWCO members, families, and the greater Athens community. Bring your family and friends and enjoy:

  • Trunk-or-treating

  • Spooky Trail

  • Music with a DJ

  • Costume Contest

  • Best Decorated Trunk Contest

  • Fall games and activities

  • Bounce house

  • And more!

We are also still accepting Halloween decoration donations to help us transform the Y for the event. A donation bucket will be available near the front desk.

And a special thank you to the YWCO member who donated the spooky (but very cool!) bat — it has already joined our Halloween decorations!

📅 Stay Up to Date With Our Fitness Schedule

We now have a live fitness schedule on the YWCO website!

The live schedule will provide updates about class cancellations and instructor substitutions, making it easier to check the most current information before heading to class.

Paper copies of the fitness schedule will continue to be available at the front desk for anyone who prefers a printed copy.

📰 Introducing the YWCO Bulletin

We’ve also added a new space to our website where you can find member communications and updates that are sent out from the YWCO.

It’s called the YWCO Bulletin, and it will serve as a central place to find important updates, announcements, and information shared with our members.

As always, paper copies will also be available at the front desk.

💃 New Zumba Class!

We heard you — and we’ve added another Zumba class to the fitness schedule!

Starting this Friday, join Jean Arias for a new Zumba class at 11:30 AM in the gymnasium.

Come move, dance, and have some fun with us!

💬 We Want to Hear From You

Your feedback continues to help us make improvements at the Y.

We’ve added a Member Suggestion Box at the front desk where you can leave ideas, suggestions, or things you’d like us to know.

We also still have our Member Feedback Survey available, and we would love to hear from you there as well.

Most importantly, we want you to know that your feedback is being seen and heard. Every response that has been submitted has been reviewed, and our team has been working behind the scenes to address the items members have shared with us.

Thank you for continuing to speak up, share your ideas, and help us make the YWCO a place that works for our entire community.

🏊 Pool Air Handling System Update

We also want to keep you informed about an upcoming improvement to our pool area.

Demolition of our current Pool Air Handling System will begin Wednesday, September 30, with the concrete pad for the new system being poured on Thursday, October 1.

As we move into the installation phase, the pool will be closed continuously from Tuesday, October 13 through Friday, October 16.

We are tentatively planning to reopen the pool on Saturday, October 17, depending on the progress of the installation and final inspections. We will provide additional updates if this timeline changes.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve the pool environment for our members.

Thank you for being part of the YWCO family and for continuing to help us grow, improve, and stay connected. We’re excited about everything happening at the Y and look forward to seeing you around the building!
