Lifeguard Certification
Lifeguard training class
This class will provide participants the skills and knowledge needed to become a lifeguard at non-waterfront pools per the American Red Cross curriculum. Successful participants will be granted a Lifeguard certificate. The class includes First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (CPRO)
Re-certification Class
This class is open to participants who have been Lifeguard Certified and who need to renew their certification.

Cost:$250*
* If you choose to guard for the YWCO the cost is $150.
Class Requirements
Be 15 years of age or older by the last day of the class
Successfully complete a Pre-Course Skills Assessment*
Attend every class in the session
Successfully demonstrate proficient Lifeguarding Skills in three or more practical scenarios.
Pass two written tests – one in CPRO and one in Lifeguarding Skills – with an 80% or higher.
Pre-Course Skills Assessment requires participants to swim continuously for 300 yards while demonstrating fluid breath control. Participants will also need to tread water for 2 minutes using only their legs (no arms) and retrieve a submerged object in a timely manner.

Registration fees will be partially refunded if the participant is unsuccessful in the Pre-Course Skills Assessment.*
Failed attempts will not be refunded.
In the event of participant cancellation, the participant may transfer the registration fee to another person or apply it to another YWCO program.
