Frequently Asked Questions About Camp:

What are the dates, hours, and location of camp?

Dates: 11 weeks: May 20th - August 2nd (closed for Memorial Day on May 27th and for Independence Day observance on July 4th & July 5th)
Hours: 7:30am-5:30pm. We do not open any earlier than 7:30am.
You may register for 1 to 11 weeks.
Location: YWCO - 562 Research Drive Athens, GA 30605 (our main YWCO location)

Can my child come for less than 5 days in a week at a prorated rate?

We do not have part-time spots. If your child attends less than 5 days in a week, the cost is the same. We feel that your child cannot get the most out of camp for less than 5 days in a week.

What is the cost of camp?

(Non-refundable) Registration Fee(s) = $80 per child (due upon registering through credit card payment and is required to reserve your child’s spot).
Weekly Fees = $175 for the first child and $165 for each additional child - ALL accounts are required to be on weekly auto-pay this Summer. The weekly fee is due every Friday prior to any enrolled weeks you have signed up and is not required early to secure your spot. However, the weekly fee must be paid in full the Friday before the upcoming enrolled week for your child to attend camp.
- This applies to 4 (such as the week of Memorial Day) and 5 day weeks.
- However, for the 3 day week of July 4th (closed July 4th and 5th) the weekly fee will be a flat fee of $115/child for the week with no sibling discount.
Cancellation Fee = Free until April 24th, then $100/child/week starting April 25th until May 9th, then starting May 10th it will be $175/child/week. We suggest trying to firm up your child's schedule before April 24th to avoid any cancellation fees.

What ages do you take at camp?

We take kids going into 1st grade through kids going into 8th grade in the Fall of 2024.

What will activities my child do each week?

Your child will be in a group with campers close to their age (Rising 1st, 2nd-3rd, 4th-5th, 6th-8th). They will be grouped according to what grade they are going into in the Fall 2024.
Your child will swim at least 2-3 days a week and have weekly Friday dress up themes. They will also participate in gym games, art, team sports, outside time, age appropriate classroom stations with legos, games, dolls, educational stations, dramatic play, team building and much more!

Are you planning to do field trips for Summer 2024? Will you have any special visitors come to the YWCO for Summer 2024?

Yes! We have some fun local field trips planned and some amazingly talented special visitors coming to the YWCO. Please click on blue button titled the “2024 SDC Field Trips and Special Events” above to see additional information.

What are Fun Friday themes? What do the kids do?

We will have a theme on Friday of each week and the campers are encouraged (but not required) to dress up according to the specific theme. Click on the blue button above titled “2024 SDC Field Trips and Special Events” for the specific themes.
The campers are encouraged (but not required) to dress up according to the specific themes with theme specific clothing and accessories.
We also do Fun Friday awards for brag bucket behavior (where we brag on good behavior), best dressed camper, best dressed staff member, and Junior Counselor of the week. We celebrate the specific Camper, Staff Member, or Junior Counselor with a lot of celebratory fanfare and a gift card.

Will there be the option to enroll my child in Swim and Yoga Lessons during Summer Day Camp hours?

Yes! We will be offering Swim and Yoga Lessons and will let you know when it's time to sign up. Swim, Yoga, and Dance Lessons will be optional and an additional activity added to your child's day. Keep in mind that there will be an additional cost for these extra Lessons.

When will my child have the opportunity to swim in the open free swim in the YWCO pool?

There is no additional charge for this fun activity. Your child will swim 2-3 days a week as part of their weekly schedule. Please check the daily schedule included in the parent information to see which 2 days out of the week your child will swim. We rotate Fridays so each age group swims every other Friday. We found that most of the kids enjoy swimming less days for longer amounts of time and we have tried to accommodate that.

What if I need to cancel a week of camp?

If you need to cancel your child's week(s) of camp, then advance notice is required and will be free until April 24th.
There will be a $100/child/week fee charged to your account if you cancel after April 25th until May 9th.
Any cancelations after May 10th will result in $175/child/week charge.
We suggest trying to firm up your child's schedule before April 24th to avoid any cancellation fees.

How will I know what to send with my child?

You will receive a confirmation email with important information about what to bring, drop off, pick up, etc. If you do not receive this confirmation email, then you are not officially registered.

Do you accepts CAPS payments to help cover the cost of Summer Day Camp?
